Take things lightly

The new year is boom time for them – programs to reduce your weight and make you more mobile. Our Rima Fino system shows how it’s done. The system has been significantly slimmed down and, thanks to its mobility and fresh look, has opened up new applications for use. With 25 mm material thickness and a loading capacity of 360 kg the original Rima version is far heavier and a true tower of strength and will remain in the series for times when there is a heavy load to bear. In addition to this, there is now also a 12 mm slim-line variation of the Rima Fino. It can be used as an attractive open room divider or as a mobile hall closet solution with integrated mirror. Twelve different surfaces in paint, décor or the current Urban Structures wood patterns are available and can be individually combined with four strong accent colors. Partitioning walls for flexible shelf division; sliding doors; clothes hooks or boxes for small items – there are plenty of elements to configure your very own personal interior design solution. All in keeping with the Rima Fino motto: Take things lightly!

An ecological ray of light

We have given the “green light” for a significant investment in the environment and the future in two senses of the word. The old neon strip lights used in some 10 000m² of manufacturing and warehouse space have been replaced with new LED strip lights. Although it will take seven years to recoup the money spent on the cost-intensive programme it will, however, achieve a saving of 60 tonnes of CO² annually. This is roughly equivalent to the weight of 12 000 sliding door frames including the top and bottom tracks. We believe that this is a striking environment-friendly lighting effect which is worth the financial advance payment! And we also hope that it will encourage other companies to look into internal factors which have an environmental impact. A current example cited in business magazine “Wirtschaftswoche” demonstrates that seemingly positive factors can sometimes actually prove to be wolves in sheep’s clothing. According to the magazine the pollutants generated when frying a single hamburger – consisting of fat, soot, smoke and steam, are the same as the air pollution caused by a diesel truck on a 230-kilometre long journey. The task is to identify these kinds of assumed “peccadillos”. We found one not in the kitchen but on the ceiling. And you?

Just the greatest

Our new IMA Novimat edge banding machine is in a class of its own in every regard. Manufactured by IMA Klessmann, based in Lübbecke in East Westphalia/Germany, it proudly bears the “Made in Germany” label of quality, just like our own products. In order to be able to house the six metric tonnes heavy, 9.5 meter long giant we had to move a special production workshop wall in our manufacturing area. A 70-tonne crane then used all its massive strength to lift the machine into place in its new home. The IMA is now fitting our systems with water-resistant edging using PU adhesive to do so – and achieving a top performance of up to 30 running meters per minute. This ensures that our products are perfect for use in kitchens and bathrooms as well as also for overseas export to countries with difficult climatic conditions such as high humidity. So, after successfully surviving this strenuous installation work we can now settle down to enjoy our heavy-weight, technically high-achieving new addition which is just the greatest!
