She was born with a feel for shape and has gone on to make it her career. In our anniversary year 2016, Nane-Sophie, the daughter of Uta and Carsten Bergmann, designed an absolute highlight – the S1200 LED-lit sliding door. When doing so, the industrial designer took advantage of the possibilities offered by LED technology to adjust the illuminated sliding door’s color over the course of the day to match human biorhythms and thus increase users’ feeling of well-being. Nane’s take on design is not limited to form and function but also integrates ‘social skills’ into the design process, with her products aiming to fulfil human needs and wishes. Successfully, as proven in 2016, when her “Country Boy” chair won a Top Ten spot in the “We Love Design Award”, initiated by TV station ProSieben; furniture store stilwerk; and InStyle magazine. The graduate industrial designer is continuing to follow her vision, currently studying for a Master’s in “Social Design” at the prestigious Design Academy Eindhoven. We look forward to seeing what new pieces she comes up with.
